How does Test to Release work?

Travelling to the UK and aren’t fully vaccinated? Cut your quarantine with our Test to Release kit.

  1. We’ll provide you with all the information you need to record your test details on your Passenger Locator Form.

  2. We’ll send the test kit to your address by Priority Courier (within M25) on Day 5 of your self-isolation.

  3. Take the test and hand it back to the courier. You’ll receive results 24-48 hours after they’ve checked it in at the lab.

  4. Negative? Exit quarantine and get back to doing the things you love. Remember, you’ll still need to take a PCR test on Day 8.

FAQs

Fit-to-Fly tests for departures from the UK

Most countries now require proof of a negative Covid-19 test for entry.  Please check your destination country requirements for the type of test required and the time window during which you need to take it before departure:

  • PCR: Negative PCR tests are widely accepted. After checking your destination country's requirements, use our travel calculator to determine when you should order your test.

  • Antigen Test: A number of other countries also accept a negative Covid-19 rapid antigen test for entry. These lateral flow tests (LFDs) are faster and less expensive than PCR tests.  If you have confirmed that your destination country accepts LFDs, book your test delivery and video consultation in the required time window before travelling.

From Monday 4 October
  • With different rules for red, amber and green countries, the current traffic light system will be replaced with a new system: red list (countries that pose a particular risk and require additional COVID-19 testing and measure), and everywhere else (countries deemed safer to travel).

  • Fully-vaccinated travellers travelling to England will no longer need to do a pre-departure test before they set off.

  • Fully-vaccinated travellers must take a Day 2 PCR test.

  • Non-fully vaccinated travellers must take a pre-departure test, Day 2 PCR, Day 8 PCR and quarantine for 10 days. You can opt for Day 5 Test to Release.

From the end of October
  • Fully-vaccinated UK travellers will still be required to take a Day 2 test. However, a faster, cheaper lateral flow/rapid antigen test will replace the PCR test.

  • Non-fully vaccinated travellers must take a pre-departure test, Day 2 PCR, Day 8 PCR and quarantine for 10 days. You can opt for Day 5 Test to Release.
